Remember Dalton?
Dalton's 2nd Annual Crop for Autism is September 6th, 2008, and Memory Book Inspirations will be participating in this crop as one of the many scrapbooking vendors there. We are so excited to be a part of such a worthwhile charity. If you'd like to attend the crop in Rock Hill, SC, or if you'd like to make a donation to the foundation direction, visit their site at www.daltonhelpfoundation.org.
Please note: The store will be temporarily unavailable on Saturday, September 6th so we can attend the crop.

Christmas? In July???
For everyone who participated in our Christmas In July events, we'd like to say THANKS for joining us and playing along! We offered five great prizes: two prize packs valued at $25 each, two MBI Store gift certificates for $10 each, and a kit of the month to the scrapper with the most participation! So who were the lucky ladies?
Aleta (leeterbug), Cyndi (Budhi), Kim (2PigletsintheSand) and Brenda (blestnannaof1)! Aleta and Brenda won prize packs and Cyndi and Kim will each receive a gift certificate. Bert will receive the kit of the month (below) for her super scrappy participation!! Way to go, girls!
If you weren't able to join us for Christmas In July, but want to check out some of the awesome challenges and projects that were offered, click here!

What can YOU do with this month's kit?
How about a mini album? Kim (2PigletsintheSand) made this adorable album using Daisy Bucket Designs' Bellflower paper. The finished size is 6x6. Here's what Kim says about her project:
"Any double sided paper will work, but this particular sheet of paper has a blocked design on one side that adds additional prints and colors to the album. Plus the blocks make the cutting and folding really easy!"
"After I added my photos, I moved on to the fun part: embellishment! The green and blue ric rac, Daisy D's flowers, and the photo corner brad all come in the August kit. The only outside elements I used were the chipboard monogram on the cover and the stamped journal blocks. The journal blocks were made with the Heidi Swapp Frill Journaling Block stamps that can be purchased in the MBI store."
"The WOW element of this album is the hidden page. The last page of the album folds out to reveal a 5th page! It can be used for hidden journaling or, like mine, an additional photo page."

Membership drive starts 9/1/08!
We've really been working hard this year to make big changes at MBI, cosmetically (the new look), socially (our charitable works), and with our forum activities. With the help of the moderators and members, it's been great in 2008, but we want it to be FINE in 2009 (thanks, Bert!), and we need your help to spread the word about Memory Book Inspirations! The best thing about Memory Book Inspirations is its members!

Bert's Tip Jar:
Care and storage of those precious albums and supplies!
You've worked so hard on your albums, don't let them get ruined by improper storage!
~
Store your filled albums upright, slightly open. This protects your pages, and page protectors from indentations from your embellishments and keeps your embellishments from “flattening out”.
~
Albums should also be stored away from direct sunlight, moisture, excessive heat and cold.
~ Pens: Although we normally see pens stored upright in a pen holder, it’s better to store them lying flat. It keeps the ink flowing more smoothly.
~ Stamp Pads: Make sure the lids are on tight and stored in airtight containers (resealable plastic sandwich bags work great). Felt ink pads need to be stored upside down, foam pads can be stored upright.
~ Adhesives and Stickers, Rub-ons: These need to be kept in a room that is a fairly even temperature and preferably far away from your vent. Adhesives and stickers can lose some of their sticky properties in extreme heat or cold. Too close to the heat, and the rub-ons come off on everything. Too close to the AC and you have to rub really hard to get them off, and then they may crack or not come off evenly.
Remember all the time and effort you've put into your albums, and all the money you've put into your supplies...take care of them wisely! |
